This beautiful fountain sits just outside the entrance to The Plaza Hotel in NYC, just south of Central Park. It is a beautiful work and is known as the Pulitzer Fountain since it was funded by the will of newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer. The Pulitzer Fountain was added in 1916, bequeathed to the city by newspaper magnate Joseph Pulitzer. Originally, the undeveloped, open plaza in front of the hotel was cut out of the city's street-grid plan for use as a carriage turnaround; since it lay opposite an entrance to Central Park, it was thought that heavy traffic would necessitate such a space.
